Huge Labor & Material Savings
Packaging Design Challenge
A manufacturer of small printers engaged BoldtSmith Packaging to optimize their product packaging. The existing packaging was an RSC corrugated box with a complicated die cut. They had already leaned on their current packaging suppliers to develop solutions but were unsatisfied with the results. The goals of the project were:
Reduce damage during shipping
Reduce labor to pack up the product
Reduce package material costs
BoldtSmith Actions
Our optimized packaging solutions explored multiple material types such as corrugated, EPS foam, EPE foam, molded pulp, etc. We created these packaging specifications, samples, completed custom transit testing and created a financial analysis comparing the optimized packaging solutions to current.
$2,000,000+
Annual savings in the following areas:
8% Reduction In Annual Damage Costs
75% Reduction In Labor Costs Through Faster
Product Packing Times50% Reduction In Packaging Material Cost
These results emphasize the value of hiring BoldtSmith Packaging engineers over a packaging manufacturer. Our engineers only develop packaging designs. We have no incentive to upsell our clients on more expensive materials or designs, allowing us to remain objective in our approach.
Unbiased Packaging Design
One of the reasons BoldtSmith was founded was a trend we saw in the packaging world. Companies tend to utilize their packaging suppliers for design and testing new product introductions. These suppliers offer expensive solutions utilizing the material they sell.
Our goal at BoldtSmith Packaging is to fill this role by providing unbiased packaging designs for our clients. We provide the best possible packaging solution to our customers utilizing any and all packaging materials. We do not sell or broker packaging - we provide a service to design, test and implement the best possible packaging solution for any industry. At BoldtSmith Packaging, we discover a wide variety of packaging situations using the best materials available.
Packaging Types
The word “packaging” is a generic term. For one customer packaging means a plastic clamshell for a lightbulb while for another customer it means a metal returnable crate for automobile windshields. For this reason, we have a team of packaging experts with backgrounds in various packaging solutions. A few of the materials we work with on a regular basis are outlined below by product type.
