The problem

A global pharmaceutical company, engaged BoldtSmith to assist in a packaging materials project that would:

  • Transition packaging for a liquid pharmaceutical product to a powder based product
  • Be completed in a 4-month timeline

Our approach

In order to complete this project within the specified timeline, 3 BoldtSmith engineers were assigned to lead and support. The team worked to identify packaging machinery that would meet requirements for sterilization, sealing, box erecting, palletizing and stretch wrapping.

Findings from the team’s work were summarized and documented in a detailed financial analysis. These calculations clearly outlined the material and freight savings that would result from this solution.

To ensure proper production, we also provided a process flow diagram with line layout and machinery/material specifications which the client maintained after completion of the project.

Outcome

From the data and solutions provided, the client was able to make an informed decision on how to best proceed with this new packaging line. By partnering with BoldtSmith, they were able to secure notable savings on freight and materials.
